Honor Society
The National Honor Society is
an organization which recognizes and encourages academic achievement
while developing the relevant ideasof Character, Service, and
Leadership needed for students to become productive citizens in
society.
As stated in its constituition,
honor society is a service organization. SWCHS chapter now operates
th student store, providing snacks for students at lunch time while
raising money for scholarships. On an annual basis, two $500
scholarships are awardec, through an application process, to two of
its college bound members.
Members also donate their time to
the " walk For Life", an American Cancer Society fund raising
project, held during the summer in The Dalles.
As individuals, students have the
responsibility to choose another are of involvement in line with
their particular talents and interest. This approach amphasizes the
need for cooperative effort in service to the community while
providing an opportunityfor individuals to discover and develop their
unique contributions...
