I was born and raised in Malheur County in a small community called Vale, OR. I am the youngest child of Bea and Chuck Gehley. I have a brother, Butch, who is six years older. While growing up, I enjoyed participating in girl's athletics and was active in many organizations in high school.

After attending and graduating from Vale High School in 1971, I entered college at Eastern Oregon State College. My goal was to become an elementary teacher. During my first term, I met my future husband, Dick Lindley. After spending the summer on a BLM lookout with my best friend from high school and college. Dick and I were married two days later in September of 1972. I finished my degree in three years and one summer term. I elected to go all year even in the summers so I would graduate early. In 1975, I graduated from EOSC with an BS in Education with a minor in Primary Ed. I then taught kindergarten for two years at Maupin Grade School. Mr. Hull was one of my students. OH No! I have just dated myself! After completing two years, I quit to raise a family. I have two sons, Dan and Doug.

In 1987, I elected to return to school to work towards an endorsement in Sp. Ed. and began teaching at Wasco County Union High that fall. After three intense summers, I completed my 5th year with a Sp. Ed. endorsement. I have also taught 7th and 5th grades for our district.

There are many things I enjoy. One of my main enjoyments is my family including playing with my grandson. Other hobbies include cross stich, needlework, and cooking. Probably my favorite pastimes though, besides my family are gardening and reading. I am always looking for good reading materials, as I think I will find that one book that might turn a reluctant reader into a reader. I am also known for tears while reading a good book!
