At the academic awards ceremony today for Semester 2 of the 2023-2024 school year, middle and high school students who earned a 4.0 also scored a gift certificate to Maupin Market! This year South Wasco Co (SWC) Elementary School will have a "Little Dribblers Team" during basketball season. Little Dribblers do not compete, they show their skills at half-time of the home high school basketball games by dribbling and shooting at a lowered hoop, garnering applause and learning fundamentals. Research has shown that participation in team sports is fun and beneficial to younger children who are not yet eligible to play on a team. It increases School Spirit and camaraderie with each other. It's also really, really cute!
Girls and boys ages Kindergarten through 4th grade are eligible to participate. The team will perform only at home games, about 10 games per year. There will be a few practices prior to the first game, and a few more through the season.
