Great season to the middle school volleyball team! Thank you to all the parents, coaches, and players who made this season amazing!





The middle school student council completed their community service project: a community trash pickup. Ms. Krista and the Leadership class organized this event, and all of the middle school students participated.




Check out Rae welding in her advanced manufacturing class. Way to go!



On Wednesday, several students attended an Industry Connections symposium with Mr. Henson. The overarching theme was the use of technology in construction.





The middle school STEM elective with Ms. Krista allows students to code and build robots. There is also a middle school STEM team that will compete in robotics competitions, which prepares students for the high school STEM team.



Come out to the SWCSD Theater Program's Fall Showcase on Tuesday, Oct. 24th! The kids will be performing monologues and a few teasers for the upcoming show, "Little Women," which will be performed in November. Admission is $7 ($3 for students and seniors).


The third grade has been practicing using the distributive property of multiplication with Ms. Hernandez.

The juniors had a field trip to the Deschutes River today. They are doing a biodiversity study on the ecosystem of the water sources around Maupin, primarily looking at how life is affected by the abundance of water. They are with Mr. Henson (and Frank!).

Football Update! The football team finished with a exciting come from behind win over #1 ranked Prairie City 46-38. The football team will play Oct. 27 at Echo High school vs Joseph for the league championship and a first round bye in the playoffs!




Volleyball Update! The volleyball team finished with a perfect league record 12-0 after winning at Sherman on Saturday 3-1 vs Sherman and 3-0 vs Wheeler County. They now will play Saturday at 10AM at Kurtz Gym in The Dalles vs the winner of Sherman and Klickitat/Glenwood.




Last Friday was Statewide Inservice Day, so many SWC teachers attended conferences and workshops to improve the educational experiences for our students. To name a few, Mr. Sowell and Mr. Henson attended The Oregon Science Teachers Association & Oregon Computer Science Teachers Association Conference. Mr. Kurtz attended the Northwest Mathematics Conference. Ms. Brumley attended a leather-working workshop in Pendleton to add as an element to the Agriculture curriculum, and Ms. Henson attended the Oregon Thespians, Oregon Theatre Educators Association Conference.






Last Tuesday, 12 seniors traveled to Redmond with Ms. Malefyt to attend the Central Oregon College Fair where they were able to meet with representatives from over 70 colleges! They gathered lots of information to pour over in the next few weeks as they apply to colleges!
